Lists and learning history

Word lists, settings, practice results and review schedules are stored on your device. SpellBee does not require an account and does not provide account-based cloud sync. Device operating-system backup settings may apply to locally stored app data.

Speech recognition

Spelling aloud is optional and requires microphone and speech recognition permission. Your device’s speech recognition service processes audio and returns a transcript to SpellBee. Depending on your device, language and settings, that service may process audio on its servers. SpellBee does not send microphone recordings to its own servers or store recordings. Use typing or letter tiles if you prefer not to use speech recognition. You can revoke microphone access in device settings.

Voice pronunciation

Device speech voices can read words locally. Enhanced voice pronunciation sends the text to be spoken to our secure voice service, which uses OpenAI and Amazon Polly to generate audio. Text may include a custom word, definition or example sentence. Avoid putting names, contact details or other personal information into these fields. These providers process requests under their own service and privacy terms.

Purchases

Apple or Google processes payments; we do not receive your payment card details. SpellBee sends the product identifier and store transaction identifier or purchase token to our verification service, hosted on Google Cloud/Firebase. The service checks purchase status with Apple or Google to enable access, detect expiry and process refunds or revocations. Purchase proofs are cached on your device for later checks. Our application does not intentionally store purchase proofs or full store responses in its server database or application logs.

Operational records

Our services keep usage counts, timestamps, voice/model settings, character counts, technical errors and hashed network addresses for reliability, abuse prevention and cost control. Hosting providers may also retain technical request logs, including network addresses, under their retention settings. These records are restricted to service operation; they are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking. Retention varies by record type and hosting configuration. No ads or data sales

SpellBee contains no advertising and does not sell personal data. Data is processed by the service providers described above to deliver requested features and protect the service.

Families and choices

Parents and guardians should manage purchases, permissions and custom lists. We do not ask learners to create profiles with personal details. If you believe personal information from a child was sent to us, contact us so we can investigate and remove records where possible.

Deleting data and contacting us

Delete custom lists in the app or remove app data to erase locally stored information. Removing the app does not cancel a store subscription. For privacy questions or requests about server records, email nalhamzy@gmail.com. Do not send purchase tokens, passwords or payment card information.
