Privacy Policy — Istigfar

This is a plain-language summary of what Istigfar does and does not do with your data. We treat your data as an amana — a trust.

What we don't do

We do not sell your data to anyone.
We do not show third-party advertising.
We do not use third-party trackers or analytics SDKs (no Facebook, no AppsFlyer, no Mixpanel, no Adjust).
We do not read your contacts, calendar, photos, microphone, or files.
We do not upload your individual tasbih counts. Only an aggregate country-level total is shared with the global counter.

What we collect, and why

Data	Why	Where it lives
Email (or Google account)	Sign-in only — so you can keep your tasbih history across devices.	Firebase Authentication.
Daily / lifetime dhikr counts	Your personal stats and the daily-streak indicator.	Firestore under `users/{your-uid}`. Only you can read it.
Country code	So your contributions appear under your country on the global map.	Firestore as a 2-letter code (e.g. `SA`). No precise location.
Aggregate contribution counts	The live world map of total dhikr per country.	Firestore under `globalStats/` as country-level sums. No individual identification — just totals.
Approximate / precise location (optional)	Prayer-time accuracy and Qibla bearing. Processed on your device.	Never uploaded for prayer/Qibla. Only sent to your Firestore family group when you join one.
Family-group location (optional)	So your invited family members can see your live position during Hajj.	Firestore under `familyGroups/{groupId}/members/{your-uid}`. Visible only to people you have invited. You can leave any time and your record is deleted.
Crash diagnostics	So we can fix bugs that affect you.	Firebase Crashlytics. Disabled in debug builds. Anonymized.

Permissions we request

Location. Used for prayer time accuracy, Qibla compass, and the optional Family Tracker. You can deny, and the rest of the app still works.
Camera. Used only for the Horizon Dome AR Qibla view, which overlays a directional beam on the live camera feed. Frames are processed on-device. We never record, save, or transmit any image or video.
Internet. Required to sync the global counter and the optional Family Tracker.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. The app is rated 4+ / Everyone for content reasons but is not enrolled in either platform's Kids program.

Your choices

Sign out at any time — Settings → Sign Out.
Delete your account and data — email nalhamzy@gmail.com from the address you registered with. Your Firestore documents will be removed within 7 days.
Leave a family group — Family screen → menu → Leave group. Your member record is deleted immediately.
Revoke location / camera — your phone's system Settings → Apps → Istigfar → Permissions.

In-app purchases

Istigfar offers a single optional one-time purchase, "Unlock Full" (US$4.99). It is processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment details. The purchase unlocks premium themes, advanced analytics, vibration patterns, and unlimited daily goals.

Changes

If we change this policy, the "Last updated" date at the top will move and significant changes will surface as an in-app notice.
